How to Find Audiobooks on Spotify
Currently, audiobooks don't have their own genre on Spotify — but that doesn't mean they're not hiding away on there. You just need to know how to find them. It's not the most straight-forward process (which is why we've gone to the effort of putting this convenient list together for you!), but we have a few tips to help you find audiobooks on Spotify.
Type “audiobooks” into the search bar. You will find plenty, but the audiobooks aren’t structured in a way that makes any sense to you. Once you have done this, you can follow the tips below:
- Check out “Artists.” You might find gems like this Artist, Audiobooks for Children, who have a lovely selection of audiobooks to explore.
- Look at “Albums.” By searching through albums, you can find specific books, such as Oliver Twist — a great audiobook for your kids to sink their teeth into.
- Have a look at “Playlists.” You might have to search through the pile of playlists before you find something that appeals to you, but there are a lot of treasures to be found.
1. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Little Women is a classic, written by Louisa May Alcott. The story follows four sisters (Amy, Meg, Jo, and Beth) as they pass from childhood into adulthood. Although it was published in 1868, it remains one of the most widely-read novels today.
2. Dirty Beasts by Roald Dahl
Dirty Beasts was published in 1983, as part of a collection of comic verse for children. The poems were intended as a follow-up to Revolting Rhymes. The poems explore various animals, including the pig, the crocodile, and the lion. Listening to these funny and creative poems will help children gain an appreciation for rhythm and rhyme, while also giving them something to giggle about.
3. The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson
So many kids know and love the story of The Little Mermaid — but how many have read the original story? Encouraging kids to listen to the stories that inspired their favorite Disney movies is a great way of getting them into reading and opening up their creative minds. It's also worth pointing out that this story will have quite a different feel and a different moral to the movie. Rather than the focus being on marrying a prince, Hans Christian Anderson's story is more about the importance of the consequences of our actions.
4. Captain Underpants
This book might sound like a silly addition — and perhaps it is! But it’s also guaranteed to keep your kids entertained and laughing for hours on end, and really, isn’t that what we all want? When it comes to encouraging a love for books and stories in your children, it’s best to meet them where they are — even if what they love at that moment is remarkably silly.
Captain Underpants is a book series by Dav Pilkey. The series follows two fourth-graders living in Ohio, as well as (of course) Captain Underpants — a superhero who comes to life.

5. The Hunger Games
If you have a pre-teen who is looking to sink their teeth into a more complex and diverse plot, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a great choice. The book follows a strong female character who embarks on a dangerous adventure in an attempt to save her sister. The book is part of a series, and it is the perfect transition series for a young tween wanting to explore books with challenging themes.
